Twelve (12) Bucks for the New Ride? Ehh.
If you’ve been anxiously awaiting the new secret ride debuting in Wildwood Memorial Day weekend, here are my thoughts / review!:
The new million dollar ghost ship ride was just debuted on Mariner’s Landing this past weekend. Everyone involved in the project signed a confidentiality agreement to keep this big secret under the wraps. And though there wasn’t a grand “unveiling” as planned (Morey’s accidentally ordered the wrong size “veil”), the exterior presentation was more eerie looking in it’s uncovered glory just minutes before the official debut at 12:01am, May 29th.
I was really geared up for this walk through attraction. It’s based off the idea of the Philadelphia Experiment and the attraction entertainingly boasts that it is declared “Level 1″ for Paranormal activity by “NAPS” (North Atlantic Paranormal Society). When you go on the ride, you’ll find that it’s most comparable to your average haunted house attraction at Halloween. The live actors make loud noise, follow you through the halls, and will find the “screamers” of your small group and appropriately pester them the most.
I loved the concept, but for 12 bucks, I was hoping for some neat visual effects or something to really make the attraction stand out. My favorite part was a section featuring airbag-like materials that you had to push through for about 10 feet to make it through–but it’s not for the claustrophobic as the attraction points out. Morey’s claimed that the experience would last about 20 minutes but I would say we were through it in about 10.
So ultimately, it’s up to you if you want to pay $12 for a haunted house…or rather, ship! I’m middle of the road! …or middle of the sea?! Enough bad puns for now.
