The Best Wildwood Slices 2025

1st Place: Steak 'Em Up - 4.0

Steak 'Em Up Storefront

Steak ‘Em Up was one of the slices that made an impression before we even tasted it. Not only did the slice look great, it smelled so good you could almost taste it. By the time we were actually sampling it, we were breaking down and appreciating all of the details — the cheese that sparkled with flavor, the just-right touch of sauce, the perfect balance of seasoning, and the crispy-on-the-outside-but-fluffy-on-the-inside depth of the crust.

“I love it — I want more — My family has a slice too and I want to take it from them.” Indeed, Tim, a normally upstanding citizen, confessed he wanted to commit theft from his own family for this slice.

The attention to detail, both in the individual ingredients and in the preparation, was notable and combined to form a great and instantly memorable slice that we thought about throughout the night. While it may have been only the 2nd pizzeria of our night, it was clear this slice was an early and immediate contender for best slice of the evening — a sign of things to come.

When we presented our award, shop owner Mike Lane was not at the shop but, instead, had a break that morning and was at the Seaport Pier pool. Thanks to a shop employee, we had the chance to congratulate him via a FaceTime call — certainly the most unexpected, hilarious and memorable ways to present a Wildwood Pizza Tour victory so far in our 19 years.

2nd Place: Olympic Flame - Avg: 3.8

Olympic Flame

Olympic Flame has been the definition of a staple — 2025 is the 5th consecutive year this slice ranked in our top 2 — a remarkable accomplishment no other pizzeria shares.

Olympic Flame Wildwood Slice 2025

While often characterized primarily by its flavorful cheese and pan-cooked, crisp yet light and fluffy dough, this year’s slice had a notable increase in sauce compared to previous years. Though this caused some debate and analysis, this slice ultimately rated just as well as last year, with a 3.8 overall rating that sealed this slice as our number 2 favorite.

Thanks for never letting us down, Olympic Flame!

3rd Place: Little Angelo's Pizza Spot - Avg: 3.6

Little Angelo's Pizza Spot

Little Angelo’s Pizza Spot has been consistently wow-ing us every year since opening their doors in 2022. With their 3rd place ranking, this is their best ranking to date — and it’s not a fluke or luck — This slice has now ranked top-5 each of its 4 years and demands our attention and respect.

4th Place: Sorrento II - Avg: 3.5

Sorrento II Wildwood Boardwalk Storefront

Sorrento’s placement in our top 5 is really fun for a number of reasons. This slice won the first 2 Pizza Tours in 2005 and 2006 before moving slowly down the charts. While always respectable pizza, it hasn’t been as close to the top of the chart in recent years.

But that time is over.

Over the past 2 years, this slice has battled back from 14th place in 2023, to 9th place in 2024, and now 4th place in 2025. We love to see this comeback by Sorrento’s, re-establishing themselves with the quality slice we know in our hearts and souls that they are capable of putting together.

5th Place: Original Hot Spot - Avg: 3.4

Original Hot Spot Wildwood Boardwalk

The highest concentration of pizza places on the boardwalk is dead center on either side of Schellenger Avenue in a two-block stretch we lovingly refer to as “The Gauntlet”. There are typically a jaw-dropping, stomach-crushing 6 pizza spots crammed in these two blocks.

Not only did the Original Hot Spot put together, by far, our favorite slice in The Gauntlet, it was one of our favorites on the entire boardwalk! Plenty of ingredients combined with great preparation resulted in a slice that was full of flavor that stood out from all the rest.

Best Value Slice (Taste, Price & Size)

In addition to our taste rating, we also record price and slice measurements to determine the best value slice. We have a special in-house formula to determine best value called P3R (Pizza to Price to Points Ratio) = Slice Area * (Points / Price).

1. Steak 'Em Up - Value Rating (P3R) = 47.19

Steak Em Up Wildwood

When it comes to sampling all the boardwalk slices, price and slice size are recorded but never a factor in our rating process. Only after the tour do these metrics play a role, especially for calculating what the best value slice on the boardwalk is — that is, which slice offers the best combination of flavor, affordability and size.

Not only was Steak ‘Em Up’s slice the highest rated for its flavor but it also comes in at the least expensive slice on the entire boardwalk — at a price that hasn’t changed in 3 years. At just $2.67, this slice is a full dollar less expensive than the boardwalk average of $3.67. Truly amazing.

Largest Wildwood Pizza Slices

Some days, you spend so much time walking the boards, catching waves, and having fun in the Wildwoods, that you're starving and just want to get your hands on the biggest slice you can possibly find. We know exactly what it's like and we've got you -- these are the largest slices we found on the boardwalk for 2025! If you normally order two slices, maybe start with one and go from there with these pizzerias!

1. Joe's Pizzeria - 14.0 x 9.5 in. (66.50 sq. in.)

Joe's Pizzeria

Joe’s Pizzeria did not disappoint our appetites with their mammoth 14.0 x 9.5 inch slice.

But even better, it also delivered on flavor — ranking 7th overall for this year’s tour. While the most expensive slice on the boardwalk, the amount of pizza you receive is equivalent to 2 slices at some other pizzerias. Combined with its great flavor, this slice also earned 2nd in our Best Value category!

Joe's Pizzeria - Largest Slice on Wildwood Boardwalk

Since we began measuring slices in 2012, there are only 2 years Joe’s did not measure as the largest slice of the boards. They’ve only been topped by Jumbo’s (in 2017) and Founders (in 2024).

Most Improved & Bounce-Back Slices

Sorrento II, Original Hot Spot, Little Nicky's, Sam's Pizza Palace

Sorrento II
Original Hot Spot
Little Nicky's Pizza Wildwood
Sam's Pizza Palace

Sorrento II has been on hot-streak for two straight years -- jumping up 5 spots up in 2024 (9th place) and 5 more spots in 2025 (4th place). This shop won the 1st Pizza Tours in 2005 & 2006 and we absolutely love seeing their return to the top of our charts.

Original Hot Spot also made an awesome step up this year. After hanging in and around the top-10 for the past several years, this slice surged a full point higher in our rating, landing this slice in our top-5 for the first time ever! Love it!

Little Nicky's had a great bounce back year. After an uncharacteristically low rating in 2024, this slice was fresh and flavorful, jolting this slice up 9 spots into our top-10 with a respectable 2.8 out of 5 slice.

Sam's Pizza, in a similar fashion, returned to form this year, reminding us why the shop has been around for nearly 70 years. This was one of the freshest and most satisfying Sam's slices we've had in the past couple years placing this fan-favorite back in our top-10 with a 2.9 out of 5 rating.

Most Controversial Slices

While some slices are rated very similar by the Pizza Tour reviewers, some have mixed, or sometimes very mixed, opinions. So, which slices were the most controversial this year?

Founder's Grub & Pub & Hot Spot Restaurant & Pizzeria

Founders Grub & Pub
Hot Spot Restaurant & Pizzeria

Both Founders Grub & Pub and Hot Spot Restaurant & Pizzeria had a 2.5 point spread between highest and lowest ratings from the crew.

In both cases, one reviewer gave a great review of 3.5 for the slice while another gave a below average review of just 1.0.

What an emotional rollercoaster! This is a substantial difference of opinion! So, well...what can we say? Do us a favor and try these slices too and see which side you fall on! And if you do, please let us know what you think!
