Biography

Biography:
More than 70 years ago, the Mackrone family started selling pizza at a restaurant near the Trenton fairgrounds in New Jersey. It was going pretty well so they decided to open a shop on the Seaside Heights boardwalk, which was also successful. One day they decided to jump in their car to take a fun road trip down to south Jersey. They ended up in the little town of Wildwood, which had become a hot vacation spot. They loved the town and decided to open up a shop on Wildwood's boardwalk.

The grand opening on Memorial Day weekend 1953 didn't go so hot. As a matter of fact, it poured rain all weekend and they only sold 8 pies the entire weekend! But this wasn't an indication of the success they were soon to have in the coming decades--eventually they had 4 locations and have become one of Wildwood's and New Jersey's most famous pizzerias.

What to expect from a Mack's pizza? A thin crust, cheddar-drive cheese blend, and a sweet tangy sauce.

The best pizza anywhere! People come from far away to get Mack's Pizza for a good reason. As soon as my feet touch the first board on the boardwalk, I am headed straight to Mack's. I do not understand the Mack's/Sam's controversy because there is no comparison as far as I am concerned. I had to try Sam's once so that I could say that I had tried it and it is not bad pizza but it is also not Mack's. I have never tasted pizza this good anywhere. It is always better when you eat it there as you get the whole boardwalk experience (and get to people watch too- always fun). The cheese and the sauce have that extra Mack's flavor which gives the pizza a taste all its own. I am a fan of thin crust anyway (probably due to growing up eating Mack's Pizza) and I love watching how they put the cheese on first, then the sauce for those great flavor swirls. I would give it 6 stars if I could. It is that good.

The eternal Wildwood Pizza disagreement in my family. I love Sam's and my wife and daughter love Mack's. (That's why only the 4-star rating from me). But very worth the time. It's very good pizza.

I'm 72 and my family now in their 4th generations eats only Mack's while in Wildwood. This past summer I was so disappointed to find that they have decreased the size of the sodas and increased the price. No on else on boards charges that much for a small soda. I asked person who replaced the wonderful Ms. T and he said had to increase due to their cost. Bull @^$%, no one else has. Now I'll get my soda somewhere else and take it in when I get the pies. Told him you have too much competition to hurt yourself for a few cents. We'll see how Mack's shows it's cheapness this summer. Hate to be sent to Sam's, but it's the principle that counts.

Always the best. And they deliver. When I think Wildwood I think Mack's. Think and crispy crust, perfect blend of cheese and sauce. I mean it's heaven.

I grew up on Wildwood vacations. Every year I talked about my favorite things to do...,Macks Pizza was top of the Boardwalk list! After a day in the ocean it was The Treat that we looked so forward to eating! It was fun watching the employees throw the pies in the air.

No comparison, Mack's is the best! Perfect balance of thin crispy dough with perfect sauce and real cheese. Some think it's greasy. I think it's perfect, a little grease means it's real cheese.

2nd best slice on the boardwalk. A little to greasy for my liking, but still great.

I only remember Mack's Pizza at the beginning of Funtown Pier around 1963 or so ... Not so sure about it being in the Heights
